Riding TRAX to and from the University of Utah recently reminded me of what I experienced a few years ago:
I had just boarded a UTA bus at the U., by the business building. As we moved to South Campus Drive, I spotted a TRAX train just leaving for downtown Salt Lake too. The race was on.
Now my UTA driver had a lead foot and we had few passengers and even fewer that we had to pick up. TRAX got ahead early, but by 600 East, the bus pulled ahead for good.
The bus hit Main Street several minutes ahead of TRAX.
The bus won. That seems surprising, but it can happen, depending on circumstances.
